For old school San Franciscans, the Seals are as historic as the Giants. With Joe DiMaggio, Dominic DiMaggio, and Lefty O'Doul as marquee players the Seals left their mark on San Francisco baseball. The Seals played in San Francisco from 1903 to 1957 when they gave up their stadium to the newcomers in town, the Giants.
The Seals were part of the Pacific Coast League, PCL. The league started in 1903 and still exists today as a Triple-A league. The league is famous for players such as Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, and Barry Bonds who all got their starts in the PCL.
