After the San Francisco Seals hockey team left SF in the mid 1960's they went to Oakland and became the California Golden Seals. The Golden Seals played under several names before joining the NFL and sticking with this name. Eventually the franchise moved to Cleveland but later returned as the San Jose Sharks.
